Here Are Some Good Reasons To Join The American Legion

 Comfort for Recovering Veterans

Our Post actively supports Operation Comfort Warriors which helps active-duty military personnel and newly discharged veterans recover and adjust to lifestyle changes.

Education Assistance for Your Children and Grandchildren

Post 27 provides college and University level scholarships to Senior High School students each year. Eligible applicants compete for these scholarships and are judged using a non-biased objective system.

Family and Community Support

Join with us in supporting many community programs and celebrations.

Honor and Remembrance

Our member volunteers join with the local VFW to provide honor guards at official services and veterans funerals when requested. The Legion is also a leader at every level in the establishment and maintenance of memorials and monuments that honor military sacrifice. Our volunteers replace all grave flags before Memorial Day in the three Muscatine city cemeteries. We conduct a flag retirement ceremony once a year to provide respectful disposal of unserviceable flags brought to us for disposal.

Volunteer Opportunities

The American Legion offers volunteer opportunities that fulfill needs in local communities throughout the country and beyond. The Legion provides millions of hours of free community service, assistance at VA medical facilities and help at military installations each year.

Friendship and Networking

Post 27 offers a Hall gathering place for members to celebrate their birthdays and anniversaries. We offer discounts to members for other types of celebrations and gatherings in our Hall. We do not charge for use of the Hall for Celebrations of Life. Our Social Club provides a welcoming and orderly environment for members to get together with other veterans and their guests.

 Member Discounts

The American Legion offers members and their families practical, money-saving discounts that can easily save many times the cost of annual membership dues.
